A Queensland woman has managed to avoid a costly court battle by
successfully evicting squatters who had moved into her property three
months ago when she was interstate dealing with a family crisis.
Kaylene MacDonald was shocked to return from her trip to find a family living in her Gold Coast home and refusing to leave.
It started when Ms MacDonald’s eldest daughter, Sharni, invited boyfriend, Kyle Newble, to stay with her.
Kyle’s mother, Katherine, father, Kevin, and two sisters eventually moved in as well.
Ms MacDonald’s younger daughter Laiken was also minding the house
while her mother was away. That was, Laiken says, until the squatters
forced her out.
Ms MacDonald has described her ordeal as “a nightmare.”
“The worst thing anyone in this world can do. To approach a situation
which is vulnerable and use it to their advantage… And simply move into
my house,” she told A Current Affair.
